Diamond Diesel Fuel Polishing

Boat Storage - Marine

The cost of fuel and rough economic times have put a significant burden on some owners forcing them to park their boats for long periods of time.

Diesel fuel today can become old in nine months to a year; losing its cetane rating by as much as four points. Also because boats have an open/or vented fuel system, moisture can and will enter the tank. Water is the worst form of fuel contamination. Water in diesel fuel will culture a bacteria that feed on the hydrocarbons in the fuel, therefore degrading the fuel.

Fuel Stabilizer: Adding a good quality diesel fuel stabilizer ( available in most marine stores ) will maintain the current cetane level for an additional year.
Biocide: Adding a good quality biocide periodically will prevent micro organism growth.
